About VRS
The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) implemented the Vehicle Registration Suite (VRS) to standardize the process for all authorized entities (dealerships, authorized retailers, title service companies, super title service companies, MVD field offices, and municipalities) to issue temporary tags, demonstration permits, transport permits, and transit permits. The VRS is an easy-to-use online system that enables you to enter vehicle information and generate print-on-demand tags on your own computer. Instead of purchasing paper temp tags in advance, you create and print the temp tag at the time of sale. Temp tags contain unique inventory control numbers assigned to your dealership, and can be issued at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Print-on-demand tags will replace all handwritten permits starting January 1, 2013.

Attach the temp tag to the inside left rear window of the vehicle, unless the display presents a safety hazard or the permit isn't visible or readable from that position, in which case, the permit shall be displayed in such a manner that is clearly visible from the rear or left side of the vehicle. No Internet Access? No Problem!
If you don't have Internet access, you can use VRS via telephone and fax. You call a toll-free number to provide the owner, vehicle and insurance information, and the temp tag will be immediately faxed to you.

Completing temp tags by hand is a thing of the past. You enter the required information into VRS, and it prints the temp tag for you.
Increased Access to Vehicle Information
The VRS provides real-time status of all temp tags. All temp tags are saved in the system and can be viewed by the issuing entity including law enforcement and the MVD.
Simplified Temp Tag Inventory Ordering
The VRS alerts you when your temp tag inventory is low. You order the number of temp tags (inventory control numbers) you need in VRS, and the fees are automatically deducted from your bank account via ACH.
